Create Unsubscribe Links to Retain Your Contacts

In this article, you'll learn how to create unsubscribe links and use them strategically to re-engage contacts.

When someone unsubscribes, you can redirect them to a custom page—offering a freebie, bonus, or special deal. This gives them the chance to opt back in voluntarily, while staying fully GDPR-compliant. It’s a simple way to reduce list churn and build trust in your communication.

Good to Know

System links, such as unsubscribe or confirmation links, only work in emails sent to real contacts from your list. In preview emails, these links are always disabled.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Create Unsubscribe Links and Customize Redirects

  • Got to → Listbuilding → Unsubscribe Processes Unsubscribe Link.
  • Click on the → Unsubscribe Link  button and enter a name for the link.
  • Enter the tags you want to associate with this unsubscribe link. Contacts with these tags will be redirected to the specified URL after unsubscribing.
  • Enter the URL for the redirect and click on the → Create Unsubscribe Link  button.

You can change the priority of an unsubscribe link via drag-and-drop. This is useful when a contact has multiple tags. The highest-ranking unsubscribe link in the list will then be used.

Unsubscribe links give you a powerful chance to keep contacts by offering value right before they leave.
