Step-by-Step Instructions

Prerequisites

  • Make account: Make sure you have a Make account.
  • Klicktipp account with API access: Make sure you have a Premium subscription or higher so that you have access to the API.
  • Meta Business Account: Make sure you have a developer account with Meta for the form creation and test submission. This also requires the installation of an app with Meta.
  • See our article on the Meta setup article on the Meta Developer Setup.

Preparations within the KlickTipp Account

Before the integration is set up, all relevant master record fields must be created in KlickTipp. These fields enable the correct assignment of the data from the Facebook Lead Ads. Navigate to your KlickTipp account and create the following master record fields under → Contacts Data Fields:

NameType
Facebook Leads Ads | CommentLine
Facebook Leads Ads | Course choiceLine
Facebook Leads Ads | Payment optionLine

These fields save the transferred data and help you to carry out the integration completely and correctly.

Set Up a Facebook Lead Ads Campaign

  • Call up Facebook Business Manager:
  • Select campaign goal & categories:
    • Select → Leads  as the campaign goal.
  • Further optional settings:
    • Select one or more categories for your campaign.
    • Define your budget.
    • Set up your A/B testing.

Then click → Next  to open the ad group.

Configure Your Ad Group

  • Enter a name for your ad group.
  • Under → Conversion,  select the entry → Instant Forms .
  • Select the Facebook page on which you want to publish the form.
  • Then set your planned budget and target group.
  • Then click → Next  to open the ad.

    • Under → Lead Generation,  select the option → Create Form .

    • The background image you select appears at the top and is displayed as the background for the entire form.
    • Use the greeting to provide important information and explain why filling out the form is worthwhile for your prospective customers.
    • Then click → Next.
  • Define form fields:
    • Name (text field) - This field is already included by default and does not need to be added separately.
    • Email address (email field) - This field is also included by default.

When designing your form, you can also incorporate conditional logic and flexibly adapt the descriptions.

  • Click → Next  as soon as you have finished setting up your form.

Scenario Import and Adjustments

  • Call up the import link.
    • Create the necessary scenario via our import link and follow the → Guided Setup.  Alternatively, you can import the template and customize it manually using the following steps.

If you follow the Wizard/→ Guided Setup,  you can continue from step 5. If you prefer to set it up manually, you can simply continue at step 2.

  • Set up the Facebook Leads Ads module:
    • Click on the Facebook Leads Ads module and open the settings.
    • Create a new webhook and name it or select an existing one.
    • Enter your access data under → Connection  and log in to Facebook to carry out the authentication.
    • Under → Page,  select the Facebook page on which your Insta form was published.
    • Under → Form,  define the form that you have created in Facebook
    • Complete the setup by clicking on → Save.
  • Set up the KlickTipp - Add or Update Contact module:
    • Click on the KlickTipp module and open the settings.
    • Enter your access data under → Connection  and log in to KlickTipp with your user name and password to carry out the authentication.
    • Now assign the fields of the KlickTipp module to the appropriate parameters from the Facebook module by clicking in the empty fields and dragging and dropping the element there.
    • Under → Tag,  you define which KlickTipp tag is assigned to the contact when it is entered. You can use this tag to control automations or for contact segmentation in KlickTipp.
    • In our example, we assign the Facebook lead data to the appropriate KlickTipp fields:
      • Last nameFirst Name
      • EmailEmail Address
      • Course selectionFacebook\_Leads\_Ads\_Course selection
      • Payment methodFacebook\_Leads\_Ads\_Payment method
      • CommentFacebook\_Leads\_Ads\_Comment

When assigning fields, make sure that you define the mandatory data such as the contact channels (email/SMS number) and the opt-in. When assigning all other values, make sure that the master record fields receive the data in the appropriate format. For more information, you can read our Article on the Make Connector.

Test & Activate

  • In Make, click → Run Once  to perform a test submission.
  • Use the Facebook Lead Ads Testing Tool and create a test lead entry by selecting your form and clicking → Create Lead.
  • Facebook will now create a test lead with the address test@fb.com and transfer it to the webhook in Make.

Did You Know?

KlickTipp rightly does not accept this test address due to validation rules — the address cannot receive emails. As a result, an error is shown in Make within the KlickTipp module.

This is expected and completely normal.

In productive operation, leads with valid email addresses are transferred correctly and without issues.

However, this test method does not verify whether format errors may occur when mapping the data to the KlickTipp master record fields.

To ensure the mapping works as intended, you should manually check the field assignments or run a test using a valid email address after the campaign has been published live.

Integration with Zapier

Create a Zap

  • Create a new Zap in Zapier: Enter → Facebook  in the search bar and select the Facebook Lead Ads app as the trigger app.
  • Select the → New Lead  option.
  • Click on → Save + Continue.
  • Add your Facebook account with which you created the Facebook Lead Ad with → Connect an Account.  This works best if you are already logged in to this account.
  • In Facebook, you may have to give your consent for Zapier to access your Facebook account.
  • Confirm this and the account will be used directly in Zapier.
  • Click on → Save + Continue.

Test new or existing Account

  • Select the desired Facebook Page that should appear above your ad.
  • Select the form assigned to your Facebook Lead Ad.
  • Click on → Continue.
  • In the following test, click on → Connect + Continue.
  • The test should run successfully.
  • Click on → Continue.

  • If you already have a KlickTipp account connected, select it. If not, connect your account via → Connect to Account.  For Endpoint, choose → KlickTipp.

Map Fields and Finalize the Zap

  • In the → Set Up Template  step, map the Facebook fields to the KlickTipp fields. For example:
    Email  → Email Address
    First Name  → First Name
  • Under → Subscription Process,  select the desired opt-in process from KlickTipp.
  • Click → Continue  and confirm with → Create + Continue.
  • After the test runs successfully, click → Finish.
  • Check in your Contacts to verify that the test contact was successfully transferred.
  • Name your Zap and activate it by setting the switch to → ON.
